You’ve might have noticed the past week or two I’ve been posting a little less and things may have seem not normal for here. The reason is because I’ve been researching a new layout, which led to some trouble with the site. Yesterday and some of today, you’ve might have noticed that everything was shut down. Sorry about that, I screwed up but I fixed it. Long story short I’m changing things up. I want New Film Dimension to look more cleaner and just simply be better than what it is now.
So that said, Starting Tuesday morning, I’m shutting the site down for the entire week. I need to upgrade several things for everything to work right but I’m also risking a lot of things. I could lose all of my posts, which would suck. That however won’t stop me… I’ll start from scratch if I have too. It’s all trial and error.
The bottom line is when I’m finish, this place will be better than ever. Or at least I hope so. At that point I can get back to the regular posting and what have you.
I’m not all that experience with this kind of stuff but hopefully I can figure it out. Until then…. see you soon. By the way, this is the layout that I picked.
What’s better for any science fiction than a post-apocalyptic dramas? A lot i’m sure but they’re still fun to watch. Warner Bros has scored themselves an Oscar winning actor to star in Allen and Albert Hughes Book of Eli.
The trades report, “Denzel Washington will star in Warner Bros.’ Book of Eli, a post apocalyptic drama that will be directed by Allen and Albert Hughes.” As to Washington’s character, “[he] will portray a lone hero in a not-too-distant apocalyptic future who must fight across America to bring society the knowledge that could be the ket to its redemption.” That key is the knowledge that “life here began out there…” wait that’s not right.
The combo of Denzel Washington and a SCI-FI movie, it’s golden for me. So I’m looking forward to this. Shooting begins in January.
After months of dicussion on the future of Spider-Man 4 news has come out over the weekend that star Tobey Maguire and the director Sam Raimi are going to return for Spider-Man 4 and a possible 5th movie. Nikki Finke of DeadLineHollywoodDaily.com tells us, “Sony doesn’t want any info to leak but I’m told that both star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will be returning to make Zodiac screenwriter Jamie Vanderbilt’s script of Spider-Man 4. Sources tell me that Sony has recently locked in both veterans of Spider-Man 1 through 3.” It’s also believed that Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane but apparently there isn’t a deal yet. Personally, I hope she doesn’t come back or her character is killed off in the first 10 minutes. Each movie I can’t stand her more and more.
“Sony is taking its time officially hiring the movie’s villain since principal photography doesn’t start on Spider-Man 4 until next fall because of the recently postponed May 2011 release,” speaking of the films next villain. “I am told, however, that ‘once you find out who the villain is, you’ll know who’s playing it’.”
I wasn’t a fan of the 3rd film at all but the first two films were outstanding. Given that, I’m willing to give the franchise another chance at making a good film. The filmmakers are well aware at what people hated about the 3rd film and hopefully they won’t make those same mistakes.
“I’m also told that, right now, the studio is trying to figure out if it can feasibly shoot Spider-Man 4 and 5 at the same time because doing that is so cost effective and ‘it wasn’t so easy to get everybody back together’.” With shooting the 4th and 5th film together begs the question; what’s going to happen with Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 4? If it was going to happen at all, it will probably get pushed back till after 2010 or 2011. That probably goes the same for Tobey Miguire’s Robotech.
Lindsay Lohan is an idiot, if you didn’t know already. In short she passed up a Playboy deal for a $700,000 shoot according to Page Six. “[Lohan] has turned down a $700,000 offer to do an eight page topless spread in Playboy’s 55th anniversary issue this January,” says Page Six.
Lohan’s rep told Playboy, “If there’s nudity, then the answer’s no… She’s not going down the [New York] magazine road again,” which is so stupid because it brought her so much attention and coin. Just from a career stand point, Lohan isn’t going anywhere good. She might have an Ugly Betty appearence coming but other then that she’s got nothing. Playboy is offering her great money and she’d probably sell a massive amount of magazines only making thing better for herself. People would love to see it anyways. Someone needs to slap her in the head and tell her the only way she can have some kind of career is to get naked more and use what she’s got.
Hey everyone. If you’ve shown up here while the page looked different, that’s because I’m trying a new look for the page and I’m just testing a few things. It’s harder than it must seem and I’m having a bitch of a time figuring things out. So if certain things look, out of wack… sorry but that’s cuz I’m testing things.
The cover above is from this months issue of Heavy Metal Magazine.
It’s been several months now that we’ve been hearing rumblings that David Fincher who recently directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was looking to do a 3rd Heavy Metal film. Only a month ago or so, word came out that Paramount completely dropped Heavy Metal because it’s to erotic, sexy and violent for them but that turned out to be a lie. Kevin Eastman, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and owner of Heavy Metal told RGBFilter that Paramount dropped it because they’re pissed at David Fincher. Long story short; they want Fincher to cut Benjamin Button shorter but he doesn’t want to so Paramount said screw you we’re not going to do Heavy Metal so in return Fincher said kiss my ass I’ll go somewhere else. So that’s what he did, on to Sony.
Eastman revealed that Heavy Metal is currently being worked on and it’s going to be an anthology like the first film with each segment being directed by a different director, Fincher is expect to direct a segment. Eastmen also revealed that kick ass directors want to join in the fun and direct segments; Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy I & II, Pan’s Labyrinth) and Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean). Take a look at the really great interview just below:
So how amazing is that. Zack Snyder is awesome, del Toro kicks ass, Verbinski is cool. With those caliber directors helming each segment, Heavy Metal is bound to be fantastic. I’m totally pumped for this to get made and I’m confident in it’s end result. As long as they keep Heavy Metal what it is, very violent, very sexy and erotic, they can’t fail.
It’s also mention that Blur is going to be working on the animation and if you look below you can see their sample reel of their work. It’s worth watching and it adds more hope to the result of this movie.
Yesterday I posted up rumors that Ghostbusters 3 was being written, the rumors coming from Ghostbusters actor Dan Aykroyd himself. Still, even if it came from him I was still skeptical because of all of the rumors of a Ghostbuster 3 sequel for years. However today that all changes and I can’t tell you how excited I am.
Slashfilm.com says that the trades are reporting that Columbia Pictures/Sony have hired their writters to write the script. “The trades are reporting that Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (co-exec producers/writers on NBC’s The Office) have officially been hired by Columbia Pictures/Sony to pen the script for Ghostbusters 3,” says Hunter Stephenson of Slashfilm. “The script will reportedly bring together the original cast including Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, Slimer?, though none of the actors have officially signed to reprise their roles.”
Also it could possibly big news, Ivan Reitman who directed the first 2 films is “aware and involved” in the development of Ghostbusters 3 but who knows if he’ll direct it. I hope he does, why not? It’s also been confirmed that the story would be about the next generation of Ghostbusters. Akyroyd did say he’s love to get Seth Rogan and Judd Aptow to be part of the film.
With luck they might be able to Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis and Annie Potts to reprise their roles too. I don’t think Moranis acts anymore but anything can happen. I really hope this can get made, and I hope it doesn’t turn out to be a big disappointment like other older franchises that blew it this summer.
Another adaptation of Hercules is on the way coming from actor/producer Alexander Nevsky. There has been rumors of this for a couple of weeks now but nothing big enough to post about until today.
The trades are reporting that Sheldon Lettich has been hired to develop Hercules: The Beginning for Nevsky who’ll star in the film. “The move comes at a time when Universal Pictures and Nu Image/Millennium productions are also planning projects based on the Greek hero,” says Variety.
Lettich wrote the scripts for some late 80s early 90s action films like Rambo III and a couple of Jean-Claude Van Damme movies like Bloodsport (awesome movie), Lionheart, Double Impact and Legionnaire.
At first glance, I’d say this movie isn’t going to be good but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a sucker for movies like this especially when it has to do with Greek Myth. The truth is however, what I really want is a Hercules and Xena movie with Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless. That would be the greatest thing ever, yes I’m a fan. They should do the same thing like they did with Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in the beginning. Make 4 or 5 TV movies with the characters on adventures.
I’m loving how there is a new Summer Glau pic everyday. It’s great. The Sarah Connor Chronciles premieres this Monday so get ready! I like this poster of Summer, it’s really cool.
Back in June The Movie Blog put up a post which talked about Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky going a little crazy while filming at his college. It seems that Sam has been exposed to something that is causing him to change in some way. The Movie Blog can explain best so head on over there before you continue.
Today a Transformers Live reader PhillyFilmGirl submitted a video showing some dialog with Sam talking on the phone with his girl friend Mikaela played by Megan Fox. The video confirmes what TMB had to say back in June. Take a look below.
Zuleikha Robinson joins the cast as Ilana which EW says is a pivotal role. “Ilana is described as a European female who possesses great intelligence but who’s also dangerous as all get out. She’s alluring and apparently used to getting her own way,” says Ausiello. “Robinson’s Lost deal calls for her to start off as a recurring player with an option to become a series regular in season 6,” the final season.
Normally I wouldn’t post about what guest stars or recurring characters would be on Lost because really, who cares. The reason why I’m posting it is two things; the fact that she has a choice of becoming a regular cast member for the final season is kind of big. She’d be foolish not to take the job next year. Second, Robinson was on HBO’s Rome and I loved that show. She played a slave whore who killed people… it was great. So there you have it folks.
Thanks to MovieHole.net we find out that Terminator Salvation director McG mentioned he’d like to work with Halycon founders Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek again on another film. Halycon is producing Terminator.
“McG mentioned he’d love to work with the boys agian on something, remarking that he’s made ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, the Philip K. Dick novel that inspired Ridley Scott’s cult masterpiece ‘Blade Runner’ (1982), required reading on set, adding ‘That would be a good one’, McG tells variety.”
First Halycon doesn’t own the rights to Blade Runner, so it would be possible to begin with. Second, it’s bad enough that I don’t like McG directing a Terminator film; It would be tourture if he had to destroy Blade Runner. Remaking Blade Runner is just as stupid an idea as remaking Highlander.
If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight you probably shouldn’t read this but if you really didn’t see it, your not a movie fan and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Aaron Eckhart who played Harvey Dent/Two-Face, played it very well too, has confirmed that his character did indeed die. In speaking with ComingSoon.net he was asked the question if Harvey Dent is alive and he responded, “No. He is dead as a door nail.”
Q: So he’s not coming back?
Eckhart: He ain’t coming back baby!
Q: I was hoping he would.
Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, “You’re dead” before I could even get the question out of my mouth. “Hey Chris, am I?” “You’re dead!” Alright, cool.
Q: That’s not a problem in comic book movies. You could still come back.
Eckhart: I think in contract negotiations it’s a problem.
Q: So you were never signed on for another film?
Eckhart: No, I’m not coming back. I think unfortunately, Heath [Ledger] was supposed to go on and that didn’t work out. I’m nobody. I’m a cog. I have no say over this sort of stuff. I’m sure that there’s so many other characters that they could whip together. I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that was a great idea. I’d like to be in that one.
I’ve known for a while people have been arguing back and forth if Dent died or not but you heard it from the actor himself. He’s dead. Which sucks because I was really hoping for more of the Two-Face character. All of The Dark Knight was the anticipation for the creation of Two-Face and when we got that, it was wrapped up for good. It’s kind of a waste of a great character and performer but at the same time, it does leave room for more different Batman villains for the next movie.
Remember during Iron Man, Terrence Howard’s character James Rhodes looked at the 2nd Iron Man suit, the silver one, and said “next time…”? If you didn’t know he was refereing to War Machine, the character Howard would eventually play.
Over at SuperHeroHype’s forum, a member wrote that, “Terrence Howard was on the Ed Lover radio morning show this morning and he said that War Machine will be in both Iron Man 2 and 3, and might get his own spin off movie franchise after IM 3.”
I really don’t know if this is a true statement because I don’t listen to Ed Lover… why would I want to, but I think it’s safe to say Howard is jumping the gun. I’m not doubting that he’ll eventually be able to play War Machine in the second film but as for the third, who the hell knows. A third movie could be anywhere between 4 and 6 years from now and a War Machine spin-off…. I think Howard needs to calm down. All that said, I don’t even know if I want to see War Machine in the Iron Man films. I wouldn’t mind it if it was just a little but Iron Man is about Iron Man. We’ll see what happens when they start making the film.
Don't mind all of the broken photo links. They're currently being repaired but I'm one man so it'll take some time. On the up side, most of the content is still available so for those links that can be clicked on the content is still there.
Thanks,
